The most depressing thing I have read so far today is a comment that somebody on Reddit quoted from a CNN anchor:

"With 2 shooters, it's not a typical shooting"
...it's not a typical shooting"
...not a typical shooting"
...a typical shooting"

"typical shooting"

At what point must a nation ask itself if maybe something isn't quite right. When mass shootings have become so common that one can start to break them out as to how much they stray from the norm, then in my humble opinion, you have a problem.

Y'all are the only nation I know that accepts mass, domestic shootings - absent a civil war or other ongoing conflict - as a normal way of life.

Actually, these things happen in quite a lot of countries. But since the victims are not americans, and usually don't have european background, or speak english, and there is no video of the event, the US news media doesn't pay much attention to them.

Sorry, but your reply illustrates exactly what I was talking about.

I never claimed that random, mass shootings don't happen in other countries, only that the US seems rather unique in accepting them as somehow part of the societal norm.

I find them extremely unacceptable, and I hope there is never going to be another. Only the talking empty heads on the TV seem to find them acceptable. But I also accept the reality that there are billions of other people on this planet, and some small percentages of them are violently batshit crazy. And nothing short of locking them alone in a cage for the remainder of their life will stop them when they decide to do bad shit.
