The incandescent bulb in the bathroom finally burnt out this weekend. Given that it outlasted two florescent bulbs and an LED bulb, I decided to replace it with another incandescent bulb. What meagre savings we were realizing from the lower power consumption of the other bulbs is far outweighed by their fragility.

Date: 2015-10-12 07:14 pm (UTC)Our bathroom ceiling fixture has three globes, each for a 60W bulb. As the incandescent bulbs in there have burnt out, I was replacing them with fluorescent bulbs. Over time, I had replaced two of the original incandescent bulbs.
I replaced the first with a fluorescent bulb. When the second went, I also replaced it with a fluorescent bulb. When the first fluorescent bulb went, I replaced it with an LED. Then the second Fluorescent bulb went out and I replaced it with another fluorescent.
Then the LED bulb died, and I replaced it with another fluorescent.
Finally, the last incandescent bulb (the one that came with the house) finally gave out. Given how much I have spent on energy-efficient replacements over the years, I decided that it was probably more environmentally friendly, and less costly to just replace it with another incandescent.
