plonq1337 kilometres and fourteen hours of driving later, we have settled in at our hotel in Calgary. Google Maps suggested that it would take longer, but it bases its times on sane people who stop for a reasonable number of breaks. Other than getting gas in Brandon, lunch and gas in Regina, and finally gas and a few snacks in Medicine Hat, we pushed straight through.
Fortunately, I was with pleasant company for the trip, so the hours and kilometres rolled by quicker than they might have. This was a really gruelling drive back when I was still single. Now I just need to convince my brain that we are settled in for the night because every time I shut my eyes I see road streaming by, and can almost hear the tires on the street.
