plonqIt's after 10:30 and none of my co-workers are in yet. One of them isn't due in until 14:30, but the other two are supposed to be here for 8:00.
I can't remember the last time I saw either of those two before 9:30. I wouldn't normally care - they're grown boys who can take responsibility for their own actions - but I'm getting tired of fielding calls and requests for them. (Agh, somebody else just popped in while I was typing this.)
No, he's not here yet. No, I don't know when he will be in. No, sorry, I can't help you with that. Yes, I'll tell him to see you when he gets in.
Today I had to deal with an irate manager because one of these guys decided to blow-off a critical 9:00 meeting. This manager had a bitch of a time setting up the meeting for a time when everybody was available, so he was not amused when "D" pulled a no-show. I daresay that if life was a cartoon, his eyes would have been pulsing red and smoke would have been coming out of his ears. He'd better have a death-in-the-family calibre excuse this time around, because he pissed off some people who could be pretty influential to his career.
Hmph. He just came in, and he doesn't seem very contrite.
