plonqWhen you have a camera, and you are stomping around the house looking for a picture, it's amazing how many little pockets of eclectic you can find.
In this strange little tableau, Pumbaa appears to have just discovered that he has a snout. Simba has either had an epiphany, or discovered ecstasy. Flexing Buddha has found an appreciative audience in Nala... and Timon.
This is the shot that I decided to use for my "picture of the day".
I shot this one under less-than-ideal lighting, with the aperture all the way open at f/1.8 and the shutter at 1/30th of a second, which was as fast as I could go without underexposing it badly. Other than fixing the colour and exposure a bit, I didn't have to retouch much in this one. Well, I straightened it by a couple of degrees and shrunk it. Also I boosted the sharpness a bit.
In retrospect, I guess I changed a fair bit. Those have all become such standard things for me to change that I've grown used to the idea of a photo like this being "virtually untouched" in my books.

atara took one look at it and said, "It's hardly a photograph any more. Are you sure you want to use that for your picture of the day?"
She's probably right, but I can still post it here anyway, can't I?
