plonq: (Usual silly mood)
[personal profile] plonq
Anyone who has had the misfortune to meet (and speak with) me in person will know that I am a lazy speaker who often slurs his enunciation.  I ran into that again today when I had to repeat myself a couple during conversation, but sometimes the results can be amusing.

A few years back my (then) brother-in-law was visiting, and one of my cats jumped up into his lap.  He's not a cat person per se, but they owned a cat and he has learned to tolerate them.  The conversation went something like this.

Him: I seem to have collected a cat.  Does he bite?
Me: No, but if you pet him too much he might shed on you.
Him:  Whoa! (as he forcibly tosses the cat off his lap).
Me: You're afraid of a little hair on your clothes?
Him: What?  Oh... shed.

Obviously he thought I'd said something else.
