We heard this little critter hard at work when we got out of the car this afternoon and finally tracked it down to the power pole across the alley. I think this is probably the same woodpecker that almost made it as my Picture of the Day in early January, but I got a slightly better shot of the neighbour's cat for that one.
I broke out the zoom for this one and shot it at 200mm, with an aperture of f/9.5 and a shutter speed of 1/60th of a second. I sharpened it a bit, and brightened the colours a small amount because of my camera's tendency to under-saturate in RAW. The only other significant change I made was to crop away enough of the picture so that the bird was the obvious subject.
