The river is running high, but the crest is still two weeks away.

This stretch of river was solid ice yesterday. Today it is free flowing, and well above its bank. It is well ahead of schedule this year (as you recall, it was only just starting to show significant cracks in its surface over a week into April: First Cracks)

The Redwood Bridge plays foreground to the city behind it. Now I need to head back to the car because at the speed this water is rising, my feet are going to get wet if I stand here any longer.

Nothing fancy in this shot. I liked the angle of the sun as I was driving home from dropping [livejournal.com profile] atara off at school, so I swung by the house and grabbed my camera. I shot this one at a focal length of 32mm, with an aperture of f/4.8 at 1/60th of a second.

After playing with the picture a bit in the editor, I finally ended up cropping about 2/3 of it. I did some meticulous colour balancing and then promptly created a duo-tone overlay to give it an old Polaroid look in honour of the fact that Polaroid is back in action again.

I copied the picture over to GIMP to add the fuzzy border and stain.

Reminds me of my mom's photo album, except your picture has better composition.

Is it supposed to have that purple squiggly at the left side?

I've been hearing a lot about the Impossible Project on Twitter, today. It seems a great many designers are also photographers.
