plonqIt's not easy being a cat.
Life is full of hardships and tough decisions when you are a cat. Here is Merry, deeply troubled over a life-changing decision over whether to jump up into my lap, or not jump up into my lap. This may sound like a trivial thing to you or me, but laps are SERIOUS BUSINESS when you are a cat.
I shot this one at 1600 ISO, f/1.8 at 1/60th of a second. I think that going forward, any time I have to go past 400 ISO, I am just going to jump straight to 1600. Once you get past 400 ISO, the noise does not become that much worse the higher you go, and the faster shutter speeds the higher sensitivity allows me makes up for the speckling.
Other than sharpening it a bit and converting it to black and white, I did virtually nothing to this picture. I may have tweaked the exposure and shadows a bit, but more out of habit than out of wanting to actually change anything in it.
Here is another picture that I shot at a very high sensitivity. If you look at it in full size, you can see a decent amount of background noise, but nothing that I can't live with. I don't know if I would want to make professional prints with it, but it's no worse than the old 400 ASA film I used to shoot back in the day.
When she's not looking concerned, Merry can look deceptively thoughtful at times.

I have a theory:
The reason you convert so many pictures to B&W is because your favourite colour is black.

Ultimately she couldn't make up her mind, so I just picked her up and rendered her decision moot.
