I finally got to meet my brother's dog. His name is Furlough (or Furlow? I forgot to ask how it was spelled.) and he's a good dog. In this picture I caught him peeking around the corner, watching us enjoy a late snack in the kitchen. He would like to join us, but that would involve leaving the carpet. Leaving the carpet is bad because hardwood floor is scary. Furlough has a phobia about smooth floors. OK, so I need to qualify my previous statement; he's a good dog, but with issues.

Mom had a couple of poinsettias sitting on a table in the front window. I thought it would make an interesting picture to have the flowers in silhouette against the vertical blinds, but I forgot that I had set my camera to spot metering. I later took the same picture with the settings that I had intended, but I liked this result much better.
