Fun with bugs

I was farming for felcloth in Felwood last night (enough alliteration for you?) when I encountered a cute little glitch in the game. I'm going to try it again the next time I'm on to see if it's repeatable. One of the key things for a warlock in this game (outside of an instance anyway) is to have a minion at hand. Usually you can summon one of 4-5 set types to assist you as needed, but if there are any monsters of demon-class around, you can enslave them on an ad hoc basis to fight for you as needed.
Anyway, Jadefire Hellcallers are a good minion to enslave, as they have a pretty good damage output and are reasonably durable. When I enter one of these compounds on a farming trip, I'll usually track down the nearest Hellcaller, zap it with Curse of Shadows and then enslave it. They're usually good to bring down 3-5 of their brethren before they get too beaten up to be much more good to me. At that point I'll release them and, since they are usually pretty angry at me for having enslaved them, I'll regrettably kill them a bit.
"Thanks for the help killing your drinking buddies. Here, eat a couple of shadow bolts for your troubles."
Last night when I sicced my enslaved Hellcaller on one of the Jadefire Tricksters, something interesting happened. The Trickster mind-controlled me for a few seconds and burned up some of my mana attacking the Hellcaller. Par for the course - nothing unusual there. I thought nothing of it as I killed a couple more mobs and then, since my minion of the moment was at just a sliver of health by that point, I decided to release him and grab another.
Except that I couldn't release him. I tried several times, but the game ignored the release option. Great, so I have a nearly-dead minion who, at any moment, is going to break enslavement and go berzerk on me at the worst possible time. What to do? It was then that I noticed something else odd in the game; the little animation of binding chains on the demon were not there. Somehow this critter had become my permanent minion.
I kept him around for an hour or so, patching him up as needed. Eventually I hearthed back to my home point and, as expected, the glitch fixed itself in the process.

It was win-win. He helped me kill his friends, and I didn't have to kill him in the end. Luckiest Satyr in the game.
Note the slight size difference between us.
