Something positive

Luongo signs.

This addresses a long-standing hole in the Canucks roster. Unless the team falls completely apart in the off season, they may actually be a serious contender for the first time in a few years.

It gave me some hope to see the Sens sign Redden. I'm not sure they can sign Chara too, but the defense should be at least decent next year.

Of all the Canadian teams, I think the one that should fall the furthest is the Oilers. I can easily see them missing the playoffs next year. :O

Can't say that I disagree on the Edmonton comments - a lot of it depends on whether they can retain Pronger.

It looks like the Canucks will probably be losing Jovanoski as well - though he has been playing well below his potential the past couple of years. On the upside, they have a decent defense corp without him, and that will free up a bit of cap room after the Luongo signing. I'm not entirely up on the FA market this year, but I'm sure there are some decent signable offensive-defensemen out there, and/or a decent winger to put with the twins.

they traded the blockhead. finaly. there is a DOG in the sky and they made out good with the trade.

Steve Moore was a blight on the game

Ya, Bert definitely had a bit of an off-year. The change in venue might do him some good.
