There was a coup in our WoW guild last night as the officers (essentially) ousted the GM in favour of running the guild by committee. I'm sure that at the heart of it, some of them honestly think that this is the best thing for the guild. I respectfully disagree. Not to discount the importance of the members (since it wouldn't be much of a guild without them), but a good guild is ultimately the product of the vision and direction from the top.
I like the vision and direction that Brian set for this guild, and I am more than a little miffed at these underhanded machinations by the people that he (and the rest of us) trusted. I don't want to leave the guild under a pall of acrimony because I genuinely like a lot of the people in there, but I can't abide by the questionable actions of the current officers. I haven't made a final decision yet, but right now I'm leaning toward dropping from the guild and letting things fall as they may. I'd still like to raid with these guys, and help them run for the set pieces.
I'm probably going to do the wishy-washing Canadian thing and quit with my main, but leave my alt in the guild. I'm angry, but I'm not one for burning all my bridges.
