plonq: (Ack!)

That can't be good.  I just heard a muffled explosion from somewhere in the building, accompanied by a momentary power outage.

There are no sirens or alarms yet, but I think I'll keep my jacket nearby.

Nothing else seems to have happened, so I'm standing down again.

The noise came from the general direction of our server room, which makes me wonder if it was one of our backup servers performing seppuku.

Such things were a regular occurrence at the HVAC testing lab I used to work for. Seeing smoke in the building when you got to work wasn't anything to be alarmed about, in fact it usually meant something scientifically interesting had happened :)

That sounds like much more fun than working in this building. The only smoke shows we get are when an elevator motor burns out.

At around 9AM the power dipped in my house as well, resetting pretty well everything. This was accompanied by a strange and audible noise from, well, everywhere. And everyone in the house heard it equally. I'm not sure if I would call it an "Explosion" sound, but it certainly was odd.
