The cartoon pretty much says it all. This time it's my power supply that died. I got up from my computer long enough to see

atara off to her evening stint at the animal shelter last night, and when I returned my computer had powered itself off - for good, it seems. I juggled around the wiring and ultimately unhooked everything but the video card, but it wouldn't power up. I even tried changing power cords and outlets, but to no avail. Finally I disconnected the power supply and hooked up an old FSP 350W supply that I was using in the spare computer. To my relief, the system fired up on the first try.

If you've been reading my journal for awhile, you may recall that I was having some related problems back in June. I probably should have returned the power supply for a replacement back then, but once I got everything working I decided that the problem was probably my n00b wiring, and not the power supply. I should know by now that I know how to wire a computer. Let's see how long this RMA return takes. The last one (which is, ironically, the FSP supply that I'll be using in the interim) took nearly 4 months.
