I'm not quite drunk enough to write yet, but I'm getting there.

I'm going to start out with a drunken, angsty blog entry though.

Years back in an earlier life I used to work for a company that manufactured and sold furniture.  One day while I was working in the warehouse the boss approached me and said, "Plonq, could you finish up what you're doing here and clean up the frame shop?  The guys have gone home early, and I'd like to have it clean before they come in tomorrow."

I thought nothing of this, because I did janitorial work among my other duties.  The guys had been working hard to meet a deadline, and I expected to find knee-high sawdust and ends when I got in there.  I grabbed the broom and a large metal garbage container and trundled on down to the frame shop.  When I opened the door, I immediately realized that a broom wasn't going to cut it.

What the boss had failed to mention was that the reason they'd sent the framers home early was because one of them had run his thumb through the radial saw.  There was a neat fan of blood that fanned out from the blade, and a trail of blood and meat running up the wall and across the ceiling.  I returned to the kitchen for a bucket and mop and spent the next forty minutes alternately sweeping and scrubbing.\

Any time that I start to think that my present job sucks, I just have to think back to some of my previous ones.

Amen!

I remember doing janitorial work in a hospital a really long time ago.

Got paged to the autopsy room.

Very nasty, still "open" body on the table.

Tried to be professional. Turned green instead.

Yeah. Sitting in front of a computer isn't so bad.
