About three months ago one of the guys who works on our floor came marching into our little office, waving a signed form that he claimed granted him, "A month off for mandatory, medical stress leave." About a month and a half ago I'd noticed that he was not back yet, and I made a couple of subtle queries as to his whereabouts, but nobody seemed to know his status. Something reminded me of him again this morning, and on a whim I checked the corporate listings and email directories.
As far as our systems are concerned, he no longer exists. I am going to snoop around again to find out if anyone knows what happened to a 30ish year employee who seems to have simply vanished without a whimper. I suspect that he was either fired or given a medical pension, but it's odd that nothing has filtered down about it. Then again, this guy was usually my prime source for this kind of information...
