"Scruff her!"
"I am scruffing her."
"Well, scruff her more.
"OK, one leg is in - oops, it's out again."
"Get her off!  She's digging into my back!"

That's just some of what you'd have heard if you had been listening in while we tried to stuff our (frantically struggling) cat into the carrier for her first trip to the vet.  Once we got her into the carrier, she growled and hissed and glared.  She was really really mad.  As it turned out, that was the hardest part of the whole trip.  When it was time to bring her home, she hopped into the carrier on her own.  We took her there, fully expecting to end up with a letter on her file saying, "Vicious, psychotic cat.  Sedate before next visit."

While she was waiting for her examination and shots, she amused herself by calmly exploring every cranny of the examination room.  Every other cat I've taken to the vet has either hunkered down where they were, or slunk off to hide in/under whatever they could find.  She vocalized a bit when they took her temperature, but otherwise she was, in their words, a model patient.  Now that we're home again she's acting as if nothing has happened.
