Sign of the end times
Feb. 1st, 2005 06:07 amAnyone who lives in Winnipeg, or is from Winnipeg will find this bit of new susprising.
The New Occidental is going booze-free.
A move like this is akin to randomly opening crypts in a world of Poe or Lovecraft; there are dark, fetid things inside that are not meant to see the light of day. The steady flow of alcohol is the only thing that keeps them quiescent.
We pass this bar every day on the way to work. It's an interesting part of town - especially when you are taking the bus home from work at about 12:40 AM (which used to be my regular routine).
[Cue memory of the bus swerving around a body lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road one night...]
