I wonder if "there was a firetruck blocking our street" would be an acceptable excuse for tardiness?

The weather here can't seem to decide if it wants to be nasty, or ugly.  This morning it was about -12 degrees (10F), with a wind chill pushing that well into the -30s range.  As the sun comes up it's supposed to warm up to +4 (39F) and dump a load of freezing rain and snow on us, then it will cool down again overnight to a balmy -29 (-20F).

But wait!

For Monday they are predicting 0 (32F) with more snow.
