Word just came down that you can add a November 14th Winnipeg stop to this list.  We are so there!  I don't care if I have to take the day off work to stand in line for tickets.

... not that I need a lot of excuse to take a day off work.

Apparently Canada and Denmark are having a tiff over Hans Island:



It's 1.3 square kilometres of, well, nothing.  The war of words has been escalating toward the point of being all-out miffed at each other, and that can only lead to war!  I think it would be really cute to see our navies at war, standing out there in their dingies and throwing seal bones at each other.  Remember though, war is only fun until somebody loses an eye!

Hans off our island, Denmark!

From what I understand about the history of this thing, when they were drawing up the international border, they couldn't agree who would get this island so they basically agreed to disagree. Apparently, that agreement is off, so now they've disagreed to disagree. Maybe they should just draw the border halfway across the island and set up a barbed wire fence or something.

You know, it would be really funny if one of them said "Oh, never mind, it's useless, you can have it." And then the other one says "Well, we never really wanted it anyway - you keep it." And then there's this kind of white-elephant war, where they keep giving it to each other for Christmas. Like New Jersey. You should suggest this idea!
