plonqSome weird system glitches during the night have kept me hopping from machine to machine this morning, trying to coax things into running properly.
I had an odd moment for reflection this morning. When I stopped at Tim Hortons to get a coffee, our HR guy was leaving as I got there. We swapped greetings in passing, and then it hit me: this guy has been our HR rep for better than 3 years now. That's the longest a rep has survived since we moved into this place. I don't know what it is about this office, but it's like a meat grinder for HR reps. Prior to this one, they have all either retired, quit, or suffered a nervous breakdown inside of two years. He's actually one of the better reps we've had in that time too, so it's not like he's sheltering himself behind a wall of indifference in order to cope with the stress.
I guess it all boils down to that old adage of finding the right person for the job.
