Boy, do I ever feel like an idiot.  I've been fighting with the query panel in this damn program for the past couple of days, trying to limit the scope of my query to something that the system can handle.

Ideally what I would like to do is extract all of the records created yesterday.  I don't think that such a request is really that far beyond the pale - in fact, I was pretty sure that the designers of this program would reasonably have anticipated such a request and included keywords for the search parameters.  For example, I should (reasonably) be able to something like, "Record_Update_Date Equal to Yesterday" or "Record_Update_Date Equal to CurrentDate - 1".

I checked the program docs.  I scanned the intarweb.  I repeatedly uttered scatological epithets (which didn't solve the problem, but it made me feel better).  Finally, in desperation, I called a girl at the head office who works with this program a lot to see if I was missing something obvious - and boy howdy!  It was obvious.

All I had to to was put in a bogus query, go to the raw SQL editor, over-ride the program's native SQL generator and manually code my own query behind the scenes.  Now why didn't I think of that?

Actually... I had.  I was just hoping that she'd have a better answer.  Ah well, it works and all is well in the world again.

Even in the age of the intarweb, I too sometimes find the fastest way to solve a problem is to just pick up the phone and make a call.

*shrug*

I'm not paying for the long distance, so why not?
