Reading this story now makes me cringe. I'm planning to convert them all over to html at some point. I will probably end up rewriting large portions of them while I'm at it.

This was one of my favourite bits from the story:

I finally decided to chance a look down. Perhaps I thought I was being brave, but whatever my motivation, vertigo washed across me in a wave of nausea and morbid fascination. Gravity and darkness began to whisper to me anew, and I started to wonder how long it would take to fall thirty floors. I knew my physics well enough to be able to calculate the numbers in my head, but I was curious about how long it would be subjectively. I have heard that a person relives his entire life just before death. Does that mean that time slows down? How much would I relive? Would I remember my own birth? I began to formulate a theory that a falling person never subjectively strikes the pavement. Time simply slows to a stop as he falls, as he relives his life over and over again for all eternity.

A lot can happen in eternity - a cat might even learn to fly.

It's from the story "Learning To Fly" that I wrote back in 1998. It's one of many old stories lingering on my website at plonq.com (http://www.plonq.com/). I really need to get in there and clean things up a bit - right now it's little more than a dumping ground for draft copies of my stories. They could all use some editing.

I like that story. :D Some of these you should leave as they are ... just so you can see how your style has changed.
