Santa's last hurrah

The combination of Boxing Day discounts and geek appeal was too much for us to resist, so we went for a short drive today to pick up our last Christmas present (possibly the last - there might still be a mixer in the works). It's quiet now, but that may change once it's done charging.





Now we just need to come up with a name for it. I think we'll wait and see how it works before we decide on a moniker, though.

This thing scares me, and while it's neat for getting up dust and a little bit of dirt, anything that would give a big vac cleaner a hint of trouble is gonna choke it. At least that's what I've been told.

Ah. The instruction manual is quite adamant that it does not work for cleaning up after yotes. On the other hand it did a nice job in our dining room. It zipped around for about an hour and scooped up all of the dust and cat hair that was lying around.

My landlord sells these. Named his "Marvin".
I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works as a robot.

It did a nice job in the dining room. The cats were a bit leery around it, but not terrified like they are around the regular vacuum. They didn't even leave the room where it was zipping around.

It did a decent job in the one room where we ran it. It took about an hour, and managed to work its way into ever nook and corner where it could fit.

True enough. They don't recommend it for anyone who has kids because it won't clean up the kind of mess that they leave. On the other hand it does a spendid job of cleaning up behind cats (well, fur and suchlike. I wouldn't want to try cleaning up some of the things they leave behind on the carpet).
