I slugged a minivan today
Mar. 12th, 2004 01:48 pmI didn't wind up and slug it hard enough to leave a mark, but I definitely made enough noise so that the driver would know that I'd struck her van.
It seems to be lost on a lot of drivers in this city that a pedestrian who occupies a crosswalk, especially when he has the crossing light in his favour, has the right of way. It's not like this was even one of those super busy cross-walks where thousands of people cross every day. She would have lost 5 seconds in her day by waiting for us to clear the crosswalk, but she lurched and jerked her way slowly around the corner, literally muscling people out of the way with her minivan.
I may not have done any damage to her van, but I hope she had to change her pants afterwards because it made one hell of a racket when I slugged the side - startled the heck out of me, so I could just imagine what it would sound like to the driver.

Date: 2004-03-12 05:02 pm (UTC)When someone wants to make a turn, the cars that are behind them who want to go straight ahead pile up. If a driver bothers to turn on their turn signal, I can anticipate that they want to turn, and time the way I walk across the intersection in such a way as to help traffic move more efficiently. As it happens, a lot of the drivers don't signal, or they decide to turn on their signal only as they're starting the turn - not when they're lined up waiting to go. I'm seriously considering making a sign to hold up. Although the complexity of what I want to say would be too much text.

Date: 2004-03-19 10:15 am (UTC)I was driving and a pedestrian that by the looks of him was on drugs hit my car.
Really, the car wasn't moving because I was in line to enter a parking lot, the pedestrian was walking on the middle of the treet and he hit the front of the car.. Unfortunately he god mad so after that he punched the side of the trunki and left a knuckle mark o__0
He was moving erratically (which is why he crashed against a stopped car :P) and looked all shaggy, though not like he was homeless.. That's why I think he must've been on drugs :P
