I slugged a minivan today
Mar. 12th, 2004 01:48 pmI didn't wind up and slug it hard enough to leave a mark, but I definitely made enough noise so that the driver would know that I'd struck her van.
It seems to be lost on a lot of drivers in this city that a pedestrian who occupies a crosswalk, especially when he has the crossing light in his favour, has the right of way. It's not like this was even one of those super busy cross-walks where thousands of people cross every day. She would have lost 5 seconds in her day by waiting for us to clear the crosswalk, but she lurched and jerked her way slowly around the corner, literally muscling people out of the way with her minivan.
I may not have done any damage to her van, but I hope she had to change her pants afterwards because it made one hell of a racket when I slugged the side - startled the heck out of me, so I could just imagine what it would sound like to the driver.
